The Side
The current side looks like this. Have a look at members who are missing in action.
Anita, Alford 2002
Anita, Alford 2002

Anita
Squire

Our current Squire! After years of being our foreman she has decided to allow the styles of dancing to change by letting someone else teach the dances. Anita is a dancer with a preference for fowl on her head, and is a keen enthusiast for liquid refreshments - just don't mention tea and scones as you could get a hostile response!

Catherine
Bagman

Catherine has bravely thrown her hat into the ring to be the Bagman, which is no mean feat when you consider that the hat in question carries the skull of her late Uncle Gary. Catherine (and Gary) are to be found bringing up the rear of many a dance- not always intentionally- in a dazzling array of rags and fishnet tights (Catherine that is, not Gary). She is nicer than she looks. Honest.

Andy
Andy

Andy
Foreman

Andy is our foreman. He picks things up remarkably quickly: dances, beer, groupies, you name it! When not dancing, can usually be found as the centre of attention

Zena, Otley Mayday 2004
Zena, Otley Mayday 2004

Zena

Zena is multi-talented: she dances and plays melodeon, often at the same time! Zena is the one with purple feathers and a witch on a broomstick on her kit, and a hat that has seen better days. When not dancing she is jumping off hills with Tony.

Tony Dancing?
Tony Dancing?

Tony
Treasurer

Tony is one half of our 'high flying' duo with Zena, and is not averse to a bit of bopping when not looking for his 'thermals'. Tony struts his stuff with peacock feathers. He can often be heard well before he is seen. The screams and other extraneous noises often heard when we are dancing are nearly always led by Tony!

James - he says this is his better side
James - he says this is his better side

James

James is one of our more recent acquisitions. He can be easily identified by his flamboyant stick work. He will soon be seen with a new baby attached to his side.

Malcolm, Durham
Malcolm, Durham

Malcolm

Malcolm has stopped dancing and for some strange reason decided to take up the melodeon - he can now be seen with a narrow boat perched in a lock on his head in our line of musicians

Stewart, Midsummer Madness, Otley 2005
Stewart, Midsummer Madness, Otley 2005

Stewart

Stewart is easily identified by the last remnants (all that are currently left hanging on are the foundations) of Stonehenge sitting precariously on his hat, or alternatively by the small blonde child dancing with him (not a compulsory part of the kit).

Gosling Niall
Gosling Niall

Niall

Niall is the current Gosling and has thrown himself into the ancient art of Morris Millinery with aplomb sporting not only the greatest hair known to Border, but also the best hat. Possibly the only Morris dancer to wear more than one hat at the same time should not detract from the fact that he is the current holder of the Dancer of the Year title. He is rarely seen without a smile on his face- he generally has no idea what’s going on most of the time….

Lee
Lead Musician

Lee makes up our trio of melodeon players. He can always be relied on to remember how a tune starts, when those around him are fumbling (although his memory is prompted by always carrying the dots around with him as a prompt)

Justin
Defender of the Wood

Justin is the one who towers up above the rest, with uncontollable 6 ft long legs he cannot be missed. He is always dancing opposite the shorter members of the side.

Denise, Otley, 2005
Denise, Otley, 2005

Denise

Since joining Wayzgoose as a non-dancer Denise has proved her worth in the percussion line, dazzling us with her co-ordination and rattling (of tambourines, that is).

Katie
Katie's first dance out

Katie

What can one say about Katie? When not dancing she can be seen propping up the musicians with her whistle or recorder. You only have to hum part of a tune to her and she will pick it up in minutes. When not dancing she can also be found waving a baton in front of an orchestra, or playing cello

Ivi
Ivi

Ivi

Ivi is our seamstress - She helps our newer members sort out their kit and is a genius when it comes to crafty problem solving

Lesley

Lesley is our anchor - the only member of the side who was born and bred in Otley, although she emigrated to Ilkley when she grew up, and now has to carry her passport to get back in the town
